Professor Craig White and Co-Authors Earn Award for Accounting History Publication

Professor Craig White at The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership has been named a recipient of the 2025 Accounting Historians Journal Award of Excellence from the American Accounting Association (AAA) for a co-authored publication titled, “The Federation of Schools of Accountancy: Its Brief History, Its Lasting Influence.”
The article discusses the evolution of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy from its beginnings advocating for stand-alone schools of accounting, to its input into accreditation and licensure requirements, and later serving as a bridge between academia and the profession. The paper highlights how many current accounting research and curricular issues are echoes of those addressed 50 years ago.
White was honored with co-authors Elizabeth Oliver (Washington & Lee University), Gary Peters (University of Arkansas), Sandra Richtermeyer (Rutgers University), and Ann Watkins (Texas State University) at the 2026 AAA Global Connect held in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 1-5.
