New Faculty Highlight: Assistant Professor Gabriel Gazzoli
The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership welcomes six new faculty members who have joined the school this semester. In this series, meet the faculty members who are bringing new expertise and perspectives to Ellis.
Meet Gabriel Gazzoli, Assistant professor within the department of Marketing, Information, and Decision Sciences. While Gazzoli is familiar with Ellis, having joined the school as a clinical business faculty member in August 2025, this semester marks the beginning of his tenure-track role as an assistant professor.
This semester, Gazzoli is teaching marketing management and marketing strategy.
“I am looking forward to working with our students and connecting what they learn in the classroom with real-world business challenges and decisions.”
Gazzoli’s research focuses on organizational frontlines and transformative service. His work examines the interactions between customers and employees during frontline service encounters, with a particular interest in understanding the dynamics of the overall employee-customer experience. He is also interested in how service systems can contribute to positive changes in the well-being of individuals, communities, and ecosystems.
“I hope students develop the ability to think strategically, make thoughtful business decisions, and eventually apply marketing concepts to real-world situations,” said Gazzoli. “I enjoy seeing students develop confidence in their ideas and abilities. I also value the different perspectives and experiences they bring to the classroom, which continually give me new ways of thinking about marketing and business.”
Before joining UNM, Gazzoli was an assistant professor at Georgia Southern University and New Mexico State University. He holds a Ph.D. in marketing and a master’s degree in hospitality administration and management from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s degree in hospitality business management from Washington State University.
