How much work experience is required for an Executive MBA applicant to be considered?
Executive MBA candidates need a minimum of 5 years of management experience to apply. Management experience should include management of people, budgets, projects and processes. Not sure if your work experience qualifies? Schedule a meeting with our admissions team to discuss your resume and experience.
My GPA was below 3.0. Is it even worth applying?
Anderson uses a holistic admissions process. We consider many factors, including GPA, work experience, management experience, letters of recommendation, the application interview video, and program alignment to make an admission decision. A low GPA does not remove you from consideration for the program. We recommend addressing your GPA in your personal statement, following our personal statement template.
What is the difference in an Executive MBA vs. MBA?
Deciding between the MBA vs. Executive MBA can be difficult. Anderson's Executive MBA focuses on developing business leaders who already have a strong foundation in their industry. Executive MBA students learn from the curriculum, faculty, and one another to develop high-level strategic decision-making skills to position them as future leaders.
MBA students come from varying levels of work experience, with some having none at all. MBA students engage with the curriculum and faculty to develop their leadership skills and position them for their first management position.
I am a busy professional—is the Executive MBA feasible for me?
Executive MBA students juggle many factors—work, family, volunteering and community impact, and school. It is a significant committment of time, and we are committed to supporting you through:
Learning teams: You and your learning team work on all projects together.
Flexibility and scheduling: While we provide you the calendar ahead of time, we realize that you may not be able to attend each class. If you need to miss a Saturday class, there is support to help you catch up. The online learning format on the non-class weeks further supports your flexibility needs.
Wraparound services: We take care of minutia such as book purchasing, course registration, meal during Saturday class, parking, and even graduation regalia.
What does the international or domestic residency look like?
In year two of your program, you will select an international residency focused on global business practices, or a domestic residency, for example The Washington Campus, focused on public affairs and policy. Part of your tuition contributes to the cost of the residency. Final residency costs are provided after the cohort votes on the residency location.
