Management Certification for Professionals That Applies Toward an MBA

Earn a qualification now that you can apply toward an MBA later. Anderson School of Management's graduate management certifications help you quickly strengthen your business skills to advance your career. Certificates are ideal for working professionals who want to build on undergraduate or graduate work by advancing knowledge in areas like accounting or management.

You may apply up to 15 credit hours from your certificate program to the UNM MBA or Master of Accounting business management degrees.

Whether you select the program's taxation track or pursue a management fundamentals track, you can enhance your professional development as a:

Complete the Certificates on Your Schedule

Anderson's graduate management certificate programs are flexible, allowing you to complete the work while also managing your work commitments. With in-person courses after 5 p.m. on weekdays and eight-week self-paced online courses you can complete anytime, you can move at the pace that works for you. You have up to seven years to earn your certificate, if you choose.

Transfer Credits Toward a Degree or Certificate

Graduate management certificates can help you pursue Master's in Accounting or MBA degrees.

The 15 credits from the Taxation certificate can apply toward the Master of Accounting degree.

Up to 15 credits from the upcoming Fundamentals of Management 1 or 2 certificate can apply toward an MBA.

Additionally, if approved, you may transfer up to six credits completed in a nondegree status toward one of the 15-credit-hour graduate certificates.

Graduate Certificates Curriculum

Select from three graduate management certificate tracks, with one focused on accounting and two leading to fundamentals of management certification.

Track 1: Fundamentals of Management 1

(15 credit hours)

Broaden your expertise in critical issues ranging from analysis to organizational behavior through the following management courses:

  • Managing People in Organizations
  • Business and Society

Track 2: Fundamentals of Management 2

(15 credit hours)

Continue your professional development by focusing on concepts such as technology and strategy. Management courses in this track include:

  • Operations Design and Decision Making
  • Managerial Marketing
  • Financial Decision Making
  • The Strategic Management Process
  • Technology, Commercialization and Global Environment

Track 3: Taxation

This is an accelerated online certificate program featuring eight-week courses.

Accelerated Taxation Graduate Management Certificate

Build your knowledge of tax research or learn about personal tax planning. Focus on your professional development in a program that you can complete in as little as one year. The accelerated online program features three eight-week sessions.

Admissions

The Anderson School of Management uses a holistic admissions process. We consider many factors, including GPA, work experience, program alignment, prerequisite coursework, and test scores to make an admission decision. All applicants are required to demonstrate proof of an earned bachelor's degree prior to applying.
