The McKinnon Distinguished CEO Series
The McKinnon Distinguished CEO Series was created in 2010 by Anderson alum, Sonnet McKinnon, and her husband, D. Ian McKinnon, as an expression of their commitment to UNM and the Anderson School.
This endowed CEO Series provides a glimpse into the minds of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. These distinguished leaders will articulate lessons learned and provide insight into our complex business world. Alumni, friends and the business community members benefit from discussions ranging from business ethics to practical applications of academic theory. These events are free and open to the public.

Bradley J. Preber, '82, is the CEO of Grant Thornton LLP (GTUSA), the fifth-largest audit, tax and advisory firm in the U.S. and the largest global member firm of Grant Thornton International, Ltd. He has led GTUSA through a challenging transformation to increase revenues and profits and reduce costs, all while ensuring that the firm meets the needs of its people.
His dynamic 35-plus year career includes extensive experience that spans diverse roles: consultant, expert witness, forensic accountant, fraud investigator and SEC financial expert. He has investigated cases alleging fraud, waste and abuse, and frequently speaks, writes and teaches on fraud-related matters.
Douglas L. Peterson

Mr. Peterson was born in Albuquerque and raised in Santa Fe before returning to Albuquerque to graduate from Del Norte High School. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in mathematics and history from Claremont McKenna College.
Douglas L. Peterson was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of S&P Global, effective November 2013, and he joined the Company in September 2011 as President of Standard & Poor’s Rating Services. S&P Global is a leading provider of transparent and independent ratings, benchmarks, analytics and data to the capital and commodity markets worldwide. The Company’s divisions include S&P Global Ratings, S&P Global Market Intelligence, S&P Dow Jones Indices and S&P Global Platts.
Previously, Mr. Peterson was the Chief Operating Officer of Citibank, N.A., Citigroup’s principal banking entity that operates in more than 100 countries. He was with Citigroup for 26 years, during which time he led diversified businesses in investment and corporate banking, brokerage, asset management, private equity and retail banking. His prior roles include CEO of Citigroup Japan, Chief Auditor of Citigroup and Country Manager for Costa Rica and Uruguay.

Lameck "Humble" Lukanga

Lameck Lukanga was born in a small village in Uganda, where he spent the first 11 years of his life enduring genocide, famine, and third world poverty. He and his family were granted a political asylum, allowing them to come to the United States to seek refuge, which he calls "the biggest blessing of his life."
Lukanga is one of the nation's top young leaders in finance; he owns Life Line Financial Group, a wealth management firm servicing world-class performers in business, sports and entertainment. In addition, he serves on various company boards helping shape strategy and execution and is on the board of trustees for the University of New Mexico Foundation. He earned both his BBA and MBA from the Anderson School.

Garry Ridge is the president and CEO of the WD-40 Company. Mr. Ridge has been with WD-40 since 1987. As an Australian native, Ridge was national vice president of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association. He has a master's degree in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego and is an adjunct professor in the USD Executive Leadership program.

Mr. Perea is the former CEO and now Chairman of MIOX Corporation. He earned his B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of New Mexico and his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Before joining MIOX, he was the founding and managing partner of Entrada Ventures, a special acquisition fund. He also served as the President of Qynergy Corporation, an alternative energy company, CFO of Novalux, a semi conductor laser company, and held many roles at Intel including Manufacturing Manager where he was responsible for a significant portion of the company's water processing.

J. Michael Shepherd is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of the West and BancWest Corporation. He oversees the $76 billion bank based in California, run by a team of 9000 employees worldwide. It operates a network of more than 700 commercial and retail banking locations throughout 19 Western, Rocky Mountain and Midwestern states and has representative offices in New York, Tokyo and Taipei.
J. Michael Shepherd is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Michigan Law School. He joined Bank of the West in 2004 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel and subsequently assumed additional responsibilities as Chief Risk Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and President.
