Recruit Our Students
At The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership, our Employer Engagement team is dedicated to helping you connect with highly skilled students and expand your future workforce. Our students are equipped with hands-on experience and practical business knowledge that prepare them to contribute from day one. Many organizations recruit directly for internships and post-graduation roles, tapping into our diverse and talented pool of candidates.
Our recruitment cycle runs year-round, with the most active periods during the fall and spring semesters. Whether you’re looking for internship candidates or full-time hires, we’re here to support your recruitment needs and help you find the right fit for your organization.
Post Jobs and Internships
The Ellis School of Business Leadership provides a variety of opportunities for employers to connect with students and promote internships, part-time positions, and full-time career opportunities. Whether you are building brand awareness, recruiting for immediate openings, or developing long-term relationships with students, our Employer Engagement team is here to support your hiring goals.
Handshake
Employers are encouraged to post internships and full-time positions through Handshake, our primary recruiting platform used by students and alumni to search for opportunities, connect with employers, and explore career pathways. Handshake allows organizations to promote opportunities directly to Ellis students, manage applications, register for career events, and build their presence on campus through employer branding and engagement tools.
You can create a free employer account. When you create a posting in Handshake, you are able to target the specific majors you are looking for in one posting. For assistance, please utilize Getting Started with Handshake - Employers.
Weekly Career Newsletter
In addition to posting positions, employers may submit job links, flyers, recruiting materials, and event announcements to be featured in our weekly Career Services newsletter distributed to students. Employers can also expand their visibility and engagement by joining our Career Services LinkedIn group and connecting directly with the student community.
If you have information you would like featured in our newsletter, please email us.
Facilitated Internships
Facilitated Internships at The Ellis School provide employers with a structured, supervised pathway to engage talented students while supporting meaningful, real-world learning experiences. Supported through an employer-funded stipend model and administered by The Ellis School, these internships are designed to align academic learning with professional practice in a variety of business settings.
Facilitated Internships are stipend-based opportunities in which students earn 3 academic credit hours while completing a minimum of 160 work hours (typically at least 10 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters). The stipend is distributed through the student’s UNM Bursar Account, helping ensure a consistent and supported internship experience for both students and employers. These opportunities are available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
By participating in Facilitated Internships, employers can develop early access to emerging talent, contribute to student professional growth, and strengthen their pipeline for future hiring needs. These internships are especially valuable for organizations seeking structured, academically integrated experiences that combine hands-on work with clear learning outcomes.
Employers interested in participating in Facilitated Internships can collaborate with the Ellis Employer Engagement team to structure internship roles, align learning objectives with organizational needs, and connect with qualified students prepared to contribute in professional environments.
