UNM has received the largest philanthropic gift from an individual or couple in its 135-year history. A $30 million commitment from Gail and Jim Ellis, a 1968 alumnus, will transform the University's business school into The James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership, expand opportunity for students, and strengthen New Mexico's economic future for generations to come.
Read more about the gift's impact, the new name for our business school and the support of The Anderson Family.
The Master of Accounting (MACCT) degree offers two tracks, both of which are 30-credit-hour programs.
This specialization is designed for individuals who have already earned an undergraduate degree in accounting and who wish to pursue graduate study in accounting. The degree consists of five graduate core accounting courses and five additional graduate courses in the student's area of interest.
This track is designed for students who have a non-accounting undergraduate degree and wish to enter public accounting as a certified professional. Prerequisites are an introductory financial accounting course (MGMT 502) and an introductory managerial accounting course (MGMT 503) prior to admission in the program, and 30 credit hours of specified graduate accounting courses.
There are two important requirements for completing each track of the Anderson MACCT degree:
All students must complete a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours, of which only 12 credit hours may be transferred from another AACSB-accredited graduate school or approved UNM international exchange program.
Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout their academic career and must have a 3.0 GPA at graduation.
