Get Involved with the Alumni Association at the Ellis School of Business Leadership
A strong alumni network plays a vital role in the success of the Ellis School of Business Leadership. Volunteering your time is an effective way to expand your personal and professional networks, give back to your alma mater and stay informed about what is going on. Our Alumni Association engages our alumni in ways that strengthen relationships, honor accomplishments and enhance the visibility and reputation of the Ellis School. These engagements bring pride, tradition and excellence to the Ellis School and the University of New Mexico — and help continuously improve the value of your credential. We welcome new, exciting and meaningful ways for alumni to connect. Below are just a few of the ways you can get involved:
Attend an Alumni Event
Alumni events are an opportunity to reconnect with classmates, engage with current students and expand your professional network. From lecture series to homecoming tailgates, we offer events tailored to a variety of alumni interests.
Alumni Hall of Fame
The McKinnon Distinguished CEO Series
The McKinnon Distinguished CEO Series was created in 2010 by alum Sonnet McKinnon and her husband, D. Ian McKinnon, as an expression of their commitment to UNM and the Ellis School of Business Leadership. This endowed CEO Series provides a glimpse into the minds of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. These distinguished leaders articulate lessons learned and provide insight into our complex business world. Alumni, friends and business community members benefit from discussions ranging from business ethics to practical applications of academic theory. These events are free and open to the public.

Alumni Council
The Alumni Council was incorporated in July 2012 as a chapter of the University of New Mexico Alumni Association. The Alumni Council advises on alumni affairs and strengthens connections within the alumni community.
The voting members of the Alumni Council meet four times a year. Alumni Council members serve three-year terms that may be renewed once. Council members are elected by the current Alumni Council from a pool of nominees. To be elected to the Alumni Council, you must be nominated. For more information about nominations, contact the Office of Corporate and Community Engagement.
Alumni Affinity Networks
We believe the connections and relationships formed during your time as a student extend well beyond graduation. Our Alumni Affinity Groups provide an opportunity to build an alumni network and continue involvement with the university. Our Alumni Affinity Groups cater to a diverse range of interests, identities and affiliations. Each group has its own leadership, events and opportunities for engagement. Stay connected with fellow alumni, receive updates and participate in activities that resonate with your passions.
